E2S Warning Signals have today published a new ‘Guide for Hazardous areas’ which is available as a free download from their website.

The guide has been put together with specifiers and hazardous area engineers in mind with matrix tables that enable fast cross-referencing of information between the main certification systems; ATEX, IECEx, and North American and Canadian standards. Protection concepts are listed along with applicable zone, class or division and typical equipment protection level in an easy to read format.

    In addition, the guide contains ample reference information related to gas and dust atmospheres and potentially explosive environments, such as;

    • Gas and dust groups and typical substances according to the main certification systems
    • Maximum surface temperature of equipment, temperature classifications and ignition temperature limits of gas / dust
    • Apparatus groups and typical ignition temperatures for common gases, vapours and dust
    • Type of protection and basic concepts of protection listed by zone according to ATEX & IECEx and class and division according to US and Canadian standards
    • IP ratings and NEMA enclosure types
    • Typical equipment markings of hazardous area signalling products from the E2S portfolio

The latest addition to our IS range is new high-performance, intrinsically safe alarm horn sounders and combination devices with aluminium enclosures.

The IS-D105 sounder and IS-DL105 combination device are approved to IECEx and ATEX standards for Zone 0 and the IP66 sealed marine grade aluminium enclosure is phosphated and powder coated, offering enhanced protection for on and offshore applications.

The powerful alarm horn produces up to 105 dB(A) at 1 metre with a choice of 49 alarm tones and 2 additional, remotely selectable, alarm stages. For specific applications custom tone configurations and frequencies can be engineered.  The sounder can be combined with an L.E.D. beacon featuring an array of 6 high-intensity L.E.Ds.

The alarm sounder and L.E.D. beacon can be powered through a single Zener barrier or galvanic isolator. Alternatively the audible and visual elements of the IS-DL105 combination model can be controlled individually. When cabled with a common power supply, the sounder features an alarm accept function. By closing a pair of external contacts (i.e. a push switch) the operator may silence the alarm for set periods between 5 seconds and 2 hours. The L.E.D beacon continues to flash at twice its normal frequency providing indication of an ongoing alarm condition. If after the pre-set time the alarm condition still exists the alarm horn will activate again.

Flame and Explosion Proof GRP Sounders - up to 123 dB(A)

The GNEx range of flameproof audible devices are the first products to be launched from this exciting new range of signalling devices.

The Ex d IIC coded GNEx range is manufactured from glass reinforced polyester (GRP) which is a cost effective alternative to stainless steel whilst offering equivalent protection from corrosion in offshore applications. All external fasteners are 316 stainless steel whilst the mounting bracket is available in 304 or 316. Dual M20 cable entries are standard with a variety of stopping plugs available. The enclosures are moulded red but can be supplied in custom colours. With temperature ranges of -60°C to +70°C and approval for Zone 1 and Zone 2 the new GNEx signals are suitable for the harshest of environments.

The GNExS1 and GNExS2 are alarm horn sounders with maximum outputs of 117dB(A) and 123dB(A) at 1 metre respectively. Both versions offer 45 alarm tone frequencies with four remotely selectable alarm stages. The first and second stage alarm tones can be selected independently of each other providing significant flexibility when configuring alert and evacuation alarm tones. With wide voltage ranges of 10-30Vdc and 90-260Vac both alarm horn sounders minimise inventory variants. The GNExS1 also operates from 90-260Vdc.

The GNExS1-R has all the performance of the GNExS1 but features a radial horn design that provides omni-directional sound dispersion. For applications where mounting restrictions may cause coverage issues when using traditional directional flare horns; the GNExS1-R is the solution. The compact size of the device also makes it ideal when space is limited.

The GNExL1 (15W) and GNExL2 (25W) PA loudspeakers are available with dual 70 & 100V line transformers featuring multiple tappings or 16 Ohm or 8 Ohm low impedance versions. Ideal for offshore PAGA systems they offer superb clarity, frequency response and SPL coverage.

All the new GNEx products have been certified to ATEX and IECEx using the latest EN and IEC standards. Further approvals and enhancements will be released in the near future.

110-R flame proof alarm horn sounder is the latest addition to the market leading BEx range. The BExS110 has long since been the industry standard for Ex d and Ex de alarm sounders. Now the BExS110 is available with the new radial horn design.

With no degradation in sound level output the new BExS110-R distributes the selected alarm tone omni-directionally. The compact size is particularly useful when installation space is limited.

The unit is available in Ex d and Ex de variants and is suitable for Zone 1 & 2 gas environments (BExS110-R) or Zone 21 & 22 dust environments (BExDS110-R)
