Out with the old and in with new – Electronic “horn”
replaces electromechanical hooter.

The traditional signal used in many schools and sporting grounds
throughout Australia has been a range of electro-mechanical hooters
known as the “RVB” horn. Originally manufactured in Melbourne by the
RVB company the RVB horn produced a unique low resonating tone and
was often arranged in banks of several horns of different frequencies to
produce a particularly rich sound . This multiple combination was used
at all of the major Australian rules football grounds.
Even in its original form the RVB horn was a somewhat temperamental
device often requiring “retuning” after a few years of operation. However the
introduction of stringent EMC standards into Australia in the late 1990’s
required extensive modifications to the original product with a resulting
decline in reliability to the point where it was often necessary to return
horns to the factory for “retuning” after only a few months of service.
This situation was costly and frustrating for the end user, installer and
distributor. The Hootronic electronic horn from European Safety Systems
came to the rescue. With the ability to reproduce accurately the sound of
electro-mechanical devices the Hootronic now provides the reliability of an
electronic sounder.
As one installer put it…..

The new E2S Hootronic sounder has proven to be a great success since its
Inception in January. Predominantly for use in schools & football clubs, it
replaces the old technology trumpet horn, which has been used for decades
due to its unique sound. Being in a Marine enclosure ( IP67), it is well suited
for both these outdoor applications. Its high impact casing, flexibility in
mounting & high DB rating will lend itself to reaching a much wider market
place in the future, Mining, general industry & monsoonal areas are a few
that spring to mind. Protective cages are readily available for areas where
vandalism is prevalent. Extremely good product well received in the market
place in such a short time frame.”

The mechanical horn is reborn
Released 15 February 2008

E2S, Europe’s leading manufacturer of sounders and beacons, has
developed the GPH (General Purpose Horn), offering a high reliability
long life electronic alternative to electromechanical warning devices.
The sophisticated electronic circuitry and matching piezo driver
combine to produce a very effective sound that mimics that of the
traditional design and makes it ideal for use in areas with high
ambient noise. In addition to the conventional pulsing output, the GPH
generates two alternative warning tones, giving the installer or machine
builder much greater flexibility in providing an effective warning signal.

High output LED's give wide choice of operating
modes for warning beacons

Released 15 February 2008

E2S, the specialist manufacturer of audible and visual warning devices for
use in hazardous areas and hostile industrial environments, has announced
a major extension to the capability of the EEx d versions of its BEx family of
Explosion Proof beacons and its MB Series of Marine beacons. The light
source in both families can now be specified as an array of high intensity
LEDs rather than the traditional Xenon tube, a change that enables nine
different modes of operation to be specified. With versions using both
technologies now available, users can specify the best option for the
installation.
