The E2x series of high performance non-sparking alarm horn sounders, Xenon strobe beacons and combined devices from E2S, the world’s leading independent manufacturer of warning signals, have gained approval for Zone 2, 22 applications to the latest IECEx and ATEX standards for gas and dust applications, complementing its existing Class I & II Division 2 UL and cULs approvals. The main enclosure is manufactured from lightweight, corrosion proof PPS, and the re-entrant horns from high impact, fire retardant ABS. Selected models are available with the innovative 360° radial horn option. The robust construction and electronics with certification from the world’s leading approval bodies ensure that the E2x signals can be installed in the harshest of operating environments with complete confidence.
The series consists of powerful 45 tone, three channel/stage electronic alarm horn sounders with an output of up to 121dB(A) @ 1 metre (112dB(A) @ 10ft/3m) - multi-horn installations feature automatic synchronisation of the alarm tones on all devices on the same circuit. E2x visual signals include Xenon strobe 5 and 10 Joule beacons, available with a choice of six lens colours, provide up to 1,000,000 peak candela. Combination signals offer a SPL of 116dB(A) @ 1 metre (107dB(A) @ 10ft/3m) with a 5 Joule Xenon strobe, providing an efficient and cost-effective audible and visual signal in a one device. For PA applications the E2x loudspeakers are available as 15 or 25W in either line transformer or low impedance versions.
Operating voltages include 12, 24 or 48Vdc and 115 or 230Vac. Dual cable entries, either M20x1.5 or ½ inch NPT (or a combination of both sizes) facilitate easy installation and in-out wiring configurations. The mounting bracket permits the product to be angled in the optimum orientation and along with the beacon lens guard, is available in standard 304 (A2) or enhanced corrosion-resistant 316 (A4) stainless steel.

E2S Warning Signals, the world’s leading independent manufacturer of audible and visual warning devices for hazardous areas, fire & industrial and wide area applications, has appointed Düsseldorf-based Joachim Ebert as Central Europe Sales Manger, replacing Wolfgang Pfanner who has retired after seven years. His key tasks are to build on the strong business base developed by Wolfgang through strengthening relationships with established channel partners, spearheading penetration into new geographies and developing further direct supply relationships with OEM customers in key industry sectors.
Joachim brings extensive previous experience to his new role, having held similar positions with JAC Products, an American automotive component manufacturer, and Sunfab, a Swedish manufacturer of industrial pumps and motors; both used a similar European sales model involving direct sales and indirect partner channels.
Neal Porter, Sales and Marketing Director, said, “We would like to thank Wolfgang for his outstanding contribution to our business during the last seven years, and we wish him well in his retirement. We are very pleased to welcome Joachim, whose demonstrable success in his previous positions makes him the ideal person to continue our strong sales growth in Central Europe.”

The new D2x family from E2S, the world’s largest independent warning device manufacturer, is based on a high output 116 dB(A) SPL 64-tone 4-stage horn sounder, which can be combined with a powerful 5 or 10 Joule Xenon strobe in a compact 130 mm wide, 125 mm deep die-cast marine grade aluminium housing. Designed for use in Zone 2, 22 and Division 2 hazardous locations, the D2x is a truly global product range, with multiple approvals permitting use in regions covered by IECEx, ATEX, NEC and CEC regulations.
With four remotely triggered alarm stages the D2x can signal multiple safety warnings or process events. In the combined units, the Xenon strobe beacon and the alarm horn sounder can be activated individually via separate terminations or linked for simultaneous operation from a common power supply. The horns offer 64 internationally and nationally recognised alarm tones plus continuous, intermittent, sweeping and alternating tones with an effective range of up to 125m (410ft); multi-sounder systems are automatic synchronised. In combined audible/visible units the polycarbonate beacon lenses are user-changeable, with a choice of Amber, Blue, Clear, Green, Magenta, Red and Yellow colours
The corrosion proof, marine grade aluminium die cast enclosure, available in either red or grey, is phosphated and powder coated with an ingress protection level of IP66 and NEMA Type 4/4X/3R and 13, ensuring resilience in the harshest of environments. Dual cable entries and duplicated cable termination provide the facility to loop in and out; minimising installation time and cost. For maximum compatibility, the devices can be powered from 24 or 48 VDC or 115 or 230 VAC.

E2S Warning Signals, the world’s largest independent manufacturer of audible and visible warning devices, design and manufacture a large number of different sounders, beacons and call points for use in onshore and offshore hazardous areas. At the end of March the company will be showcasing its product ranges at two exhibitions some 8000 km apart.
From 26 – 28 March at the China International Petroleum and Petrochemical Technology and Equipment Show (CIPPE) in Beijing, the main feature on Stand W1002E will be the new BEx explosion proof radial horn and strobe combination, a four-stage, 123 dB(A) 45 tone device combined with a 21 Joule strobe in a single housing. Available in both EEx d and EEx de ratings, approved for use in gas Zones 1 and 2 and dust Zones 21 and 22, the new design of output horn turns the sound 90 degrees into a radial, omni-directional pattern without reducing the unit’s sound output levels, providing uniform sound distribution. Also featured on the booth is the full range of explosion proof, intrinsically safe and marine approved warning devices.
From 25 – 27 March in Ravenna, Italy, on Stand K1 in Hall 2 at the Offshore Mediterranean Conference and Exhibition, E2S, together with its Country Representative Contacta Sas, will be showcasing its comprehensive range of explosion proof and intrinsically safe audible and visible warning devices for offshore, onshore and industrial applications, with its aluminium and GRP bodied devices on show.

15/12/2014E2S Warning Signals has gained VdS approval and CPR compliance to directive 305/2011/EU for its AlertAlarm D112 alarm horn sounder by testing to EN54-3. It combines the field-proven electronics of its AlertAlarm A Series with a robust, corrosion resistant marine grade LM6 aluminium alloy enclosure, giving greater mechanical and UV protection.
The D112 has a maximum SPL of 119 dB(A) @ 1m at the nominal 24VDC fire alarm system operating voltage; the CPR compliance is valid for operation from 18 – 30VDC. The 48VDC version is also compliant. The VdS approval covers the five most commonly used fire alarm warning tones and also confirms that the units operate to specification under conditions of dry and damp heat, cold, shock and vibration. The aluminium enclosure complies with Type B environmental category making it suitable for outdoor installation, and so supporting the extension of a fire detection system into areas beyond the relatively benign office environment, improving safety. Other tests include EMC, SO2 corrosion resistance and dust and water ingress.
UL approved versions for general signalling use are also available. For this version, the aluminium enclosure is sealed to IP66, NEMA Type 4, 4X and 3R.
For use in a wide range of signalling applications, the AlertAlarm D112 offers a choice of 45 different alarm tones, and with the option of activating a second and third tone via additional control cables, it is a cost effective, sophisticated signalling solution providing the versatility of multiple tones from a single unit. It is also available as part of the DL112X, in which the horn sounder is integrated with a 5 Joule Xenon strobe, or as the DL112H combination unit, where the horn sounder is combined with a high output 24-unit LED array beacon.
